Danish Hedia nets €3M, and appoints Lars Lund as its new CEO to expand diabetes management solutions

Hedia, a Copenhagen-headquartered digital therapeutics company in diabetes, has raised €3 million in a seed extension round, supported by existing shareholders and Business Angels. The funding will enable the company to grow its digital health product portfolio, scale its Hedia Diabetes Assistant (HDA), and launch a holistic diabetes management solution integrated with Glooko later this year. Hedia will also develop smart AI-enabled algorithms and Software-as-a-Medical Device (SaMD) solutions for chronic metabolic diseases with strategic partners. The announcement coincides with the appointment of Lars Lund as the new CEO, who expressed confidence in the team and technology, aiming to accelerate the commercialization of their solutions to improve the lives of people with diabetes.

Hedia specializes in diabetes management solutions. The company is committed to aiding individuals with insulin-dependent diabetes in effectively controlling their condition. Hedia’s flagship product, the Hedia Diabetes Assistant (HDA), simplifies diabetes management by offering personalized insulin recommendations based on individual habits and inputs. The app encompasses various aspects of diabetes care, including blood glucose monitoring, insulin tracking, carb counting, insulin dosage calculation, activity tracking, and blood ketone recording. Available in 11 countries, Hedia’s solutions leverage smart AI-enabled algorithms and Software-as-a-Medical Device (SaMD) technologies.

The new capital will enable Hedia’s growth strategy and promising digital health product roadmap, continue to scale their Hedia Diabetes Assistant (HDA), as well as launching the Glooko- integrated holistic diabetes management solution later in the year. Furthermore, the company will leverage its competencies in developing smart AI-enabled algorithms and Software-as-a-Medical Device (SaMD) solutions together with strategic partners within chronic metabolic diseases.

Lars has a strong track record of scaling market leading global MedTech companies. Prior to joining Hedia Lars was Senior Vice President in 3Shape (3D scanners and CAD/CAM software solutions) where he was on the senior leadership team with global responsibility for several commercial functions and earlier 5 years at Ambu (Medical Equipment Manufacturing) and 9 years with Unomedical now Convatec Infusion Care.

Hedia is entering the next phase, focusing on successful commercialization of their Hedia Diabetes Assistant (HDA) as well as launching the Glooko-integrated holistic diabetes management solution later this year.
